Dear Ricky, I have been a fan of yours since I first saw you
perform at Austin City Limits I believe in 1990. We have traveled to many
of your concerts and seen you at FanFair about 5 times. I am so thankful
that we traveled to Jasper, Texas and Huntsville, Texas this last year to hear
you live. We will miss seeing you in concert but I will continue to play
your CD's. I wish you and Bettye the very best in the future and hope all
is well with you. Family is really the most important thing in our lives
and I am glad to hear that is where your priorities are. Take Care and God

Ricky--We just learned of your decision to quit the concerts. My heart is
just broken! You are the only singer that we would travel many, many miles
to hear your wonderful lovely voice! My best friend and even my 82 yr old
mother would drive to the ends of the earth to see your concerts and listen to
those fantastic songs! We've been to Dodge City, Wichita (twice), near
Topeka, Hutchinson State Fair, and Gove, Okla. We kept hoping you would
someday come to Salina. You are the best, and we are really going to miss
you! We love you! But, we can certainly understand your decision.
If you ever decide to come back to doing concerts again, we'll be waiting for
you with open arms! Both Linda's and "Mom", Submit

I took my 22 year old son with me to see Ricky back in October, 2005.
I had always hoped he would perform again in Louisiana so I could see him live
one more time. My son thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the performance
as much as I did. Ricky still sounded as good as he did 15 years ago.
My son now listens to my Ricky CDs. The song that really hooked me on
Ricky was "Life Turned Her That Way" the first time I heard it on the
radio. I am sorry to hear that he won't be touring anymore, but I hope and
pray for the best for him and his family. A fan always, Gloria , Submit

If it is true that Ricky is quiting ...I think he owes it to the fans
that have stuck through thick and thin with him for so many years to tell them
personally not through the gossip on this already tainted/spammed web site.
Ricky is young, vivacious and should be out there cruisin the country, singing
those songs, greeting the old fans and making new ones. He has a one of a
kind voice that rocks, but no matter what, the fans can make or break him and he
should see that ignoring them and not remembering who they are is not a good
deal for him. Where is that long promised new CD, where are the concerts -
it's not Ricky for crying out loud get a clue - it's how he's promoted and how
HE treats his fans that perhaps his bookings are less and less., Submit

Van Shelton was absolutely fabulous! On Friday evening he stated that he
had been sick and had a sore throat. This did not stop him from giving a
first class show! We came back for the two shows on Saturday evening and
Ricky put on a performance that was oustanding. You could certainly tell
he was feeling better! His smile was back and he was dancing around the
stage to the movement of the music. The audience was captured with his
wonderful showmanship. We love his music and think he is the best in the
country music industry. I just wish our country stations would play his
music. I can hardly wait until he comes back to the Arizona area so we can
go see him again! I was scheduled to have surgery on January 27, but
rescheduled it so I could go see Ricky for the two shows on Friday night and the
two shows on Saturday night. Ricky, you are an awesome entertainer!

sing. We lost Daddy a few months ago and this was Mama's first time out since
Dad's passing. We wanted to take her somewhere Special and this was it. This was
the best concert! We loved every minute of it and hated for it to end.
Mama said she could listen to Ricky sing everyday. Ricky's Mama, Wife &
Sister were there. It was nice to see them in attendance also. When we returned
home, as Family & Friends ask Mama how was the concert, her responce is
...FANTASTIC ! We agree. It's so great to be able to share a FAVORITE singer
with your 80 year old Mama. I Love It and WE LOVE Ricky Van Shelton and Band.
PLEASE ccome sing at the NEWBERRY OPERA HOUSE in NEWBERRY, South Carolina.

for putting a smile back on Mama's face, after she just had her heart broken

Comments: I dont know if i can really come up with the right words to say
how much i enjoyed this show on 8/5 in Piegon Forge TN. I have been a fan of
Rickys music since the 80s and this was the first time I have ever got to see
one of his shows and all I can say is WOW!!! This man not only has a GOD given
gift with his golden voice but they way he preforms and interacts with the crowd
is amazing. I truly can not wait till the next time I see another of his shows.
Me and my friend also had the wonderful experience of meeting Rickys wife
Bettye, what a first class lady. She came off from the bus after the show was
over to let what fans were left know that Ricky would not be coming back off the
bus , instead of turning back around to get back on the bus she took her own
personal time to speak to each of us out there, took picutres with those who
wanted them with her and sent items back to Ricky on the bus for those who
wanted his autograph, she is truly something special. I would highly reccomend
to anyone if you get the chance to see Ricky live....GO!!! you will not regret
it for a second., Submit

organization who brought RVS in is rather small. They've watched him for
years, yearning to get him. The time was right and they snatched him right
up. People weren't thrilled that he didn't 'socialize' much throughout the
day. Matter of fact, many were really disappointed. But then came
show time. And what did Mr. Ricky do? Yeah, he showed what he's made
for -- entertaining! Gotta tell ya, being one who worked Mountain Days all
weekend, even the teenagers were in a RVS daze the next day. They were

heat. I brought my wife with me and she wanted to leave with him (so did I). An
excellent singer, showman, artist, and general good guy. His album "Don't
Overlook Salvation" is dedicated to all who believe in Jesus. Anyone that
doesn't believe in God has never heard Ricky sing.......That gift came straight
from Heaven. Ricky, thanks so much for sharing., Submit

Venue: Casino Aztar ~ Evansville, Indiana May 10 and 11, 2002
Name: Paul *&* ~ Cincinnati, Ohio
Comments: Ricky performed two shows each night at Evansville's Casino
Aztar. The venue was packed to capacity for each show on both nights and Ricky
played his heart out for each show's audience. I was fortunate to have front row
seats for the 10 PM show Friday night. Also at the front of the audience were a
group of ladies from Wheeling, West Virginia. They had driven 10 hours to see
Ricky and he did not dissapoint his fans. Ricky even chatted with the ladies,
good naturedly telling one very thin and enthusiasctic fan, "Lady, you've
got the biggest mouth I've ever seen! Not loud, just big!" adding hand
gestures for benefit of those in the back. Later in the show he performed
"Lieing Here With Linda On My Mind" after being told that five of them
were named Linda. Ricky is the consummate musician, staying true to his country
roots with sincere covers of classic country tunes. He opened the show with his
own "Backroads" leading the audience down a memory lane filled with
hits of his own origin before delving into the classic covers of George Jones,
Conway Twitty, and Roy Orbison. Ricky allowed each bandmember a solo spot to
highlight their own instrument, voice, or song midway through the show. The
highlight of this was easily Ron Gannaway's drum solo. Ron performed a flawless
tribute to Led Zeppelin's drummer John Paul Jones in a solo derived from Led
Zeppelin's classic IV album. Ron's frenetic pace seemed to warp time itself as
his drumsticks pounded with the force of failing telephone poles! It was amazing
that a drummer so well heeled in country tempos and rhythms could so easily
astound the audience with such a raw rock spectacle! Incredible, simply
incredible performance by not only a musician but a showman in his own right.
Ricky's 10 PM show ran a little long each night. Having not time constraint on
the evening's second show, he and the band had freedom to jam and the time to
thrill us with real country music the likes of which have not been heard on the
radio in years. Thanks Ricky and thanks to the band for making my night special!
You guys were great, you put on a fantastic show, and to put it bluntly,
"you done real good!" I hope you can schedule a show at Belterra or
the Grand Victoria in Cincinnati. If so, I'll see you all there!

great to hear 4 concerts at once. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed every
minute. The band and all the guys were really nice. They are all
good sports. I may have been in the back of the room, but I had the best
seat in the house. I look forward to another concert soon. ,

Four shows and two soundchecks all in one weekend. Thank you Ricky, for
spending time with us. The shows were great (of course I've never been to
one in 13 years that has not been). Since Rita could not get off work to
go, we called her on the cellphone Sat night last show and laid the phone on the
table - so she listened to the entire concert. She was thrilled and she
got to talk to Tim, Tommy and Rod on the phone afterwards. You did a
beautiful job on "America The Beautiful". See you in Wheeling in a few
weeks. , Submit

surprised to see Ricky stay on stage for the entire show, almost two hours. They

Comments: REALLY ENJOYED THE SHOW SATURDAY NIGHT... ESPECIALLY THE FIRST
30 MINUTES!! RICKY SANG ALL HIS HITS. THEN HE SANG "OKIE", "ROCKY
TOP", AND "MY WAY". WHY SING ALL THESE SONGS RECORDED BY OTHER
ARTISTS WHEN YOU HAVE SO MANY GREAT SONGS OF OF YOUR OWN?? THEN RICKY LET
HIS BAND PLAY FOR 20 MINUTES... COME ON RICKY.... PLEASE... WE CAME TO HEAR YOU
SING ALL THOSE GREAT BALLADS YOU HAVE RECORDED.. THEY MAY GET BORING FOR YOU BUT
FOR THOSE OF US THAT ONLY SEE YOU ONCE IN A FEW YEARS... WE REALLY WOULD LOVE TO
HEAR ALL YOUR BEAUTIFUL SONGS!! MAYBE IF YOU HAD STAYED ON STAGE FOR ABOUT 2
HOURS IT WPOULD HAVE BEEN OKAY FOR THE BAND TO PLAY AND SING THAT LONG.. SINCE
YOU LIKE TO RECORD OTHER ARTISTS'S SONGS YOU COULD TRY THESE THAT NEVER BECAME
HITS BY ANYONE. GIVE A LISTEN TO "SWEETHEART" ORIGINALLY RECORDED BY
THE BEE GEES AND ENGLEBERT HUMPERDINCK, "SHE WEARS MY RING"...
RECORDED BY RAY PRICE AND ELVIS PRESLEY... BITTER THEY ARE HARDER THEY
FALL"... RECORDED BY LARRY GATLIN... OR "MIDNIGHT"... RECORDED BY
ELVIS. ALL THESE WOULD BE GREAT IF RICKY SANG THEM FOR SURE!! HE HAS
SUCH A GREAT VOICE AND WOULD CERTAINLY PUT THEM AT THE TOP OF THE CHARTS!!!
REMEMBER RICKY... SING THE SONGS THAT BROUGHT YOU WHERE YOU ARE TODAY!!! THAT'S
WHAT THE FANS REALLY WANT TO HEAR... BELIEVE ME!!! SEE YOU SOON BACK ON

I wanted to see Ricky. Let me tell you, this was without a doubt the best
concert I have ever seen! Ricky is absolutely fabulous and he sounded

great view, and I was able to get a few close up pictures of Ricky - can't wait

show time. This show was well worth the wait. Ricky and the band put on an
upbeat and energy filled show. I've seen him in concert 5 times, and this one
was the best of all. A good crowd (around 3000) saw a great show. I only wish it
was longer. (about an hour 20)He has a great band, he has a new fiddle player,
and the keyboard player and drummer were different than the last show,
(Lancaster NH)I was at. I would have liked a few fried Green Tomatoes songs, but
I'm not about to complain, I was throughly entertained. I do think he should
have done "I'll leave this world loving you" that was requested by the
couple celebrating their anniversary. But as it was he was lucky to beat the
rain. It started just as the show ended. As stated above, the best Ricky Van
show ever. Please, pleeeease come back this way more often. MC , Submit

Comments: Ricky looked and sounded great as usual. He has the best
voice of any entertainer I have ever heard and a great band. It is
wonderful going to a concert where everyone on stage is relaxed and having fun
as well as playing great country music. I really liked the new songs that
Ricky and Tommy sang and it is always a treat to see everyone in the band
perform, even Rodney's dance! I have been going to any RVS concerts within
driving distance for the past 11 years and I will continue to do so as long as

Comments: Had a very pleasant surprise this past week-end. Was able
to see Ricky and the Band only 10 days after seeing him in Caruthersville,Mo. In
addition to the great two concert show in Missouri, I was able to meet many of
the persons who post regularly in his fan groups.Weather was great in Ocala,Fla.
this Sunday afternoon.85 degrees.Ricky and band was nice enough to fill in for
scheduled Ray Price who is recovering from open heart surgery, Janie
Fricke opened for him and gave an hour long concert herself. The band
clowned and gave a very entertaining modified sound check of their instruments.
No songs. In addition to the regular songs that they do, "BACKROADS',CRIME
OF PASSION, HOLE IN MY POCKET,LIFE TURNED HER THAT WAY,PRETTY WOMAN,SIMPLE
MAN,AND one of my favorites STATUE OF A FOOL, His combined ballad segment
included Rockin Yrs, Meant Every Word He Said, Wonder Who Turned Out the Lights,
Your Love Turned Me Around, and Just as I am. The audience loved the band
jamming on 'ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL., Was wanting him to do his new song FREEDOM,
that he is working on, Hope he records it soon. So beautiful. Ricky
closed with 'MY WAY', The audience was very receptive and glad to have Ricky at
the Ampitheater once again. Great time had by all. How sweet it would be to hear
that beautiful voice every week-end. Must wait for Paducah next to hear
him again. LaWanda from Homosassa,Fla. lawandaraymond@xtalwind.net. , Submit

Comments: Had a great time seeing RVS in Caruthersville, Mo. this
weekend. 2 great shows. RVS and the band, really put on two wonderful shows.
They sang all the regulars, like "STATUE OF A FOOL", "SIMPLE
MAN", "WILD MAN", "BACKROADS", "PRETTY
WOMAN", "GREAT BALLS OF FIRE", "LIFE TURNED HER THAT
WAY", "CRIME OF PASSION", "HOLE IN MY POCKET" and two
songs of the new CD, "CALL ME CRAZY", and "FOOLISH PRIDE"
which we all enjoyed. Ricky did a new song, that he said he and Bettye, cowrote
when they first moved to Nashville......called "FREEDOM", it was
gorgeous!!! Hope he records it someday!!! He said, it was the first time, they
had ever done it in public. All the guys, in the band got to show off there
great talents individually. Which I always love to hear them sing, they are all
so talented. What a great bunch of guys. Great crowd both shows, they even put
in some extra chairs. Ricky ended both shows with "MY
WAY"...........what a wonderful time had by all. Can never get enough of
that wonderful VOICE!!! Counting the days, until my next show next month!!!

it was great as usual. Even though the shows are free, that's right free,
the problem is he still will not come out and meet the fans after the show!
I have seen many big name stars on the Gulf Coast and the large majority take
time for the fans. They are willing to give something back to the fans who
have given them so much. With as many trips that he makes down this way he could
take the time to meet the fans every once in a while! Stll puts on one great

Comments: How do you condense two fantastic shows into one little box.
During the first show at 4:30p.M. the bright western sunlight was hitting them
all in the face and only the gusting breezes saved them from a great sweat bath.
Sun in the eyes and all they guys gave a marvelous show. They opened with
BACKROADS, and had the audience in their pocket from then on. Ricky did
his usual beautiful collection of Top ballads-SOMBODY LIED, STATUE OF A
FOOL, CRIED MY LAST TER FOR YOU, LIFE TURNED HER THAT WAY, JACK TO A KING, ALL
FAVOIRTIES OF MINE AND MORE. When Ricky was giving the explanation obout
Matchbox/Hole in my Pocket, he got tongue tied and couldn't get his words out
straight briefly and finally said I am going to get this yet and he did- What a
delivery of that song. As usual Ricky allowed the audience to see and hear
the varied talent of his band members- Tigar did hid Bottle Let Me Down,Tommy,-One
Night I won't Forget, Woody his Beattlegrass version of We Can Work It Out, Walt
did Mary's Dream, and the drummer RON GANAWAY- didi his solo. Can that man
ever make those drums talk, just like Gene Krupa for thos old enought to
remember him, The band did an extended version of Orange Blossom Special and had
a great time just jamming for the audience.Ricky sang Pretty Woman and others,
and closed with MY WAY for the first show.We all had to leave and go get
strawberry Shortcake before the next show. 2nd Show- In addition to the sun
being down and cooler for the band, the audience had the priviledge of a hugh
movie size screen displayed above the stage so everyone , even in the bleachers
could see the show in great style. Again Ricky told the audience the story
of his shaved head and it being Betty's fault only this time he brought Betty to
center stage and introduced her to the audience. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL WIFE HE
HAS, The band did most of the same songs that had been done in 1st show with
many more greats. I got to hear Great Balls of Fire, for the first time.
WOW!, When he did Rock This Town, he changed a few words to thank Tampa, so
nice, and when he did Pretty Woman- the Strawberry Festival Queen and her four
attendants were on a platform in front of him and he sang to them. The
girls were all dresses in red sequined long formal gowns and looked like movie
stars. Again he closed with MY WAY. That powerful clear voice makes
that song ring thru the audience. 1st show about hour and half, second show 2
hrs for us fans. In addition to all that I got to meet Buzz and Coral
Collins, what a great time my grandaughter Nikia and I had this night. You all
should have come on down to Florida for this one. LaWanda

Comments: Ricky Van will always be my favorite whether he ever makes
another video or song. He has a voice from heaven and can out sing anyone.
I have seen him sing when his throat was sore and I've seen him when his back
was hurting him so bad, he had to sit in a chair to perform and he still can out
sing anyone. His new cd is great, but Statue of a Fool and My Way are
still his best. Also Crying in the Chapel rates up there also. I've
been to dozens of concerts and he gets better with age. The old saying
"I'm not getting older, I'm getting better" should be his trade mark.
Hope he comes to Oklahoma again. He has a lot of fans here. Young

Comments: Here is my review of the Volusia County Fair performance
October 11,in DeLand Fla that I was so fortunate to be able to attend. The
weather was cool, in a nice big expo building, and free to the public which
allowed many to see our Ricky for the first time. And the local radio
station, US-93 Country had worked with Tim so many non fan club members got the
opportunity wers allowed to meet Ricky at a pre-show meet and greet. That
was awesome in itself, but the show just blew you away. Some dear friends
of Ricky werepresnet from Dayton and Ricky was so happy to see T.J. and his
family.Ricky and his band - 7 and 1/4 - were fine tuned and turned on. The
first portion of the show was allocated to our favorites. He did his
ballad melody which included my favorites- Life turned her that way, and ROCKIN
YEARS- so fantastic that all I could do when was stand and scream WOW!!! at the
top of my voice. I had a front seat not 8 ft from Ricky for 2 hours so he heard
me every time I was screaming and hollowering and just chuckled at me
onstage. Many of the favorites such as STATUE OF A FOOL brought standing ovations
from the audience. Ricky and band did PRETTY WOMAN, CRIMES OF PASSION, JACK TO A
KING, LONG TALL TEXAN,SIMPLE MAN, and our other favorites. I go to many
country concerts and RVS is the only performer who so generously shares so much
of his show time with his band. Woodie did his Beatlegrass, George his Dog
for a Car Ride song, Rodney his now famous dance to get to go fishing routine,
Walt did a new song "Bettyes dream", I believe it was called but great
song, Walt did "The bottle let me down" and Tommy a song that allowed
his steel guitar to talk while he was singing Ricky asked Tim to go to the
bus and get Rodney's boots that he had split down the back so he could get his
Knees to the bottom of the boots. Ricky told the audience he wasn"t
sure if this was his new Tim Conway or Little Jimmy Dickens routine. The
band did several songs from their new album FGT, CALL ME CRAZY',FOOLISH PRIDE,I
THINK I LIKE IT HERE, Ricky closed the show with "MY WAY" as only
Ricky Van can do it. Again many thanks to you RICKY and TIM for giving us
such a FANTASTIC CONCERT. You sure Know how to make your fan club and
audience feel as though they are the most important people in this world.

Comments: RVS and band put on an exceptional show here in the heart of
South Jersey! The first half of the show Ricky and the band played all of
Ricky's greatest hits, much to the delight of the audience. Statue of a
Fool got Ricky a standing ovation from some of his most loyal fans. Ricky
then proceeded to give his talented band an opportunity to individually perform.
Ricky Van Shelton has to be one of the most generous performers to give such a
large spot in his show to his band. Every other performer just gives each
band member a brief introduction, but Ricky and band have alot of fun with this
part of the show and it comes across that way to all in the audience. If
Ricky isn't careful, Tigar, Woody and his "Beatlegrass", George and
"his riding in the car with a dog", Walt, Rockin Rodney and his
"dancing", and Tommy might give him become an act of their own!!!
Several more numbers were performed by Ricky and the band before ending his 90

Comments: Hi Miss Magic, Here is the review for the Ogden, Utah Weber
County Fair concert that Ricky and the guys did on August 11, 2000. Thank
you again for having this page available to all of us who can't go to some of
the concerts. We always feel like we are there after reading some of the reviews
from so many of Ricky's fans. The show was FANTABULOUS!!! Ricky had backstage
and Tim Bowers, the tour manager came and got us to go back for a meet and
greet. It sure is wonderful to be a fan club member and receive this kind
of recognition. Thank you Tim and Ricky for making my concert so much more
special. Ricky sang all of the usuals, opening with Backroads and then Cried My
Last Tear For You. He got that crowd up and on their feet.
When he finally stopped to take a breath he said it sure was hot were we sweatin?
He was and sweat was just a running down well you know where. Rod went to
get Ricky a towel and Ricky said no I can't put that towel where I need to put
it. The whole audience just cracked up. He said his pants was wet and the
audience told him to turn around and he said no he wadn't agonna do it and as
Miss Loretta Lynn says you aint a gonna make me neither!!!! The band sang as
well. Tigar did "The Bottle Let Me Down", Woody did "Ode to
Billie Jo", George did his dog song and cracked up the audience royally.
The song Walt did was one he wrote and not sure but think it was called
"Take It Away". Rod danced but not like usual and Ricky told the
audience that he was usually more into it but that his inlaws were in the
audience and Rod said "yeah they are the ones under the chairs". Tommy
did "Crazy Arms". From the new album Ricky did "Call Me
Crazy", Foolish Pride", "Think I Like It Here" and said
"Think I Like It Here" may be a single. It was just a real good
song. Called "Foolish Pride" an original Traditional Country
Song. Ricky got 5 standing ovations throughout the show and that is not to
mention the applause during most of the songs. He had that audience in the
palm of his hand. He ended the show with "My Way" and the audience
clapped for a good 5 minutes. It was just an awesome show. Thank you
Ricky Van Shelton. And thank you to the 7 1/4 band. Ricky said you guys
were the best band in the business and that Man KNOWS OF WHICH HE SPEAKS. luv

Comments: Hi ya'll, I'm BACK! Weary for sure. I am going to
bed, right after I write you all, and make sure that everything is in working
order, with the rest of the 'stuff' going on. We have a 'new' person whom
some of you met in Pigeon Forge, joining us today, via digest. The problem
is - I lost her address. Betty Foret - are you out there? Reading me
loud and clear? I cannot remember if your address is a "dot com"
or a "dot net", so I subbed both - and figure one will bounce at me
for being wrong, by tomorrow morning. Glad to see a lot of you made it back
already. We decided against tackling Sunday interstate traffic, so we
enjoyed another day in PF, on Sunday. All traffic was gone by Sunday
morning, and it was a breeze to travel around after all that mess on Friday and
Saturday. I think a lot of that was due to the craft fair being held in
Gatlinburg. We did not go to Gatlinburg, but I was glad to know that a lot
of the rest of you did. I don't care for the town much - it's too 'cramped
up' to suit me. I know that a lot of you did go, and even found the Thomas
Kinkade galleries there! 8-) I have to agree with Mary Jo. Friday's
show was great - but I quite frankly have never seen a show like he put on, on
Saturday...... I've never seen him get so many requests, and so many people
wanting his autograph during the show! I also have to say - I've never
seen so many folks before at soundcheck - there are lots of 'new' fans out there
?? If so, I think that's great! I was so glad to meet so many of
you!! Especially Mary Ireson, Mary Dunford, Sissy, Betty Foret, Sharon P,
and we may be getting a new lady to the list - named, SISSY!! We're going to
have to start going by our social security numbers, you know?? We'll have 3
Betty's (if you include Sunny - but I'd rather call her Sunny), and two Sissy's,
and goodness knows how many Linda's............ oh lordie!! I just can't
even remember who all I got to see "again", and all the new folks -
but I was so glad to see you! Jeanne B --- I MISSED you!! How did
that happen??? No LaRue, we didn't take the guitar. I was aggravated
enough over Cody's haircut, and I decided to wait "at least another
year" or so, to see if Cody will take up and learn it, or give it up.
Sometimes Cody's concentration levels are not so good - at other times, (as was
obvious on Saturday night), they are tremendous. I don't know if any of
you were sitting near us - well, Mary I, I know you were, but we were on
"opposite ends"......... but I wanted to assure the rest of you
that Cody was NOT having spasms during "Call Me Crazy". Mom kept
asking him if he was ok!! He was keeping rhythm to the song, ONLY moving
his neck......... no other body part, at all. It looked like a "new
Rodney dance"!! Speaking of Rod......... haha!! Well, it
appears I'm going to have to bring my "vase hat" with me next time and
get him to autograph it. I have one EXACTLY like it!! I bought it
years ago, in Pigeon Forge. Archie Campbell used to have a show in PF,
nightly, along with his son, Phil. And they used those hats in the show,
and sold them to their audience! (And, I just HAD TO HAVE IT!)...... 8-)
Tim was great, on Saturday - but you know if the folks that were only at
Saturday show, and didn't go to Friday, to see Ricky get the horse, and ride it
himself - they certainly did miss out!! It's too bad the horse really
wasn't WHITE, as the song says! Oh wow - and Cryin In The Chapel, was
beautiful......... and Amazing Grace, I can't even tell you how pretty that was.
It just shows you how badly he needs to be doing a second gospel album. Long
Tall Texan, on both nights - was great! I HOPE I got some nice shots of
him shaking hands with the crowd after Friday show. I had front row, but
was on the side, but he did come over to where I was at the end. Everyone
else moved forward to shake hands - I sat back and snapped pics, with my
throwaway camera. (Oh - Cody was 'mad', because he forgot his camera - I let him
use up the rest of mine, on Saturday's show). He transferred from our
room, to his mom and dad's room (they came to PF, but on Saturday). We
were supposed to have adjoining rooms.......... however, you can only
count them as adjoining, if you like walking up two ramps......... (1st
floor, to 3rd floor does NOT count as adjoining, in my way of
thinking)........... anyway, we moved Cody upstairs to his mom and dad's room,
and his camera got locked IN the room.......... so he wasn't too happy
about that! Yes Mary Jo, I knew you'd like "Happy Trails".......
I thought he did a nice job with it, considering it was such an 'impromptu'
performance! Poor George - I felt bad that he couldn't remember anymore
jokes on Saturday when they needed him. I was kinda hoping for another
song from him!! The rest of the band was great - I enjoyed "Tonight the
Bottle Let Me Down", by Tigar, (on Friday). And I always like
"Lonesome Whistle", too - (done by Woody). Did ya'll notice Walt's
"very purple" shirt, on Friday? I started to holler up and ask
'why he didn't wear purple"!! Then they shone the purple lights on
him, and that really made it look bright!! Ricky sounded and looked wonderful -
at both shows, and definitely both soundchecks. I'm glad to hear you got
pics MJ - I have not developed mine or Cody's yet. I hate to see what Cody
did - I have a feeling a lot is wasted. Burger King really loved my family -
it's where I ate all meals, for two days, with exception of the brunch!
Soundcheck ran so late, that we had to hurry up and get out, so we could come
back! And me, being diabetic - had to EAT! So, I was in the car
eating BK food, when I wasn't 'at' the theater!! It made for a lot of
rushing around - but it was loads of fun!! I hope RVS will be scheduled
back to PF again and again --- it's one place I can always convince my family
'they need to go'!! 8-) I gotta get off here......... it's getting
late, and I'm beat!! See ya'll Bethie - p.s. -- Nina - great job while I was
gone...
